Paweł Andrzej Mazurkiewicz started to play the piano at the age of 16. He completed the Karol Szymanowski Music High School of Music in Warsaw and in 2000 graduated with distinction from the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he was a student in the class of Professors Bronisława Kawalla and Jan Ekier. In 2004 graduated also with distinction and with “Eduard Tschumi Music Prize” from the University of Arts in Bern, where he studied in the Soloists’ class of Prof. Tomasz Herbut. He studied also chamber music and “lied accompaniment” at the Academy of Arts Zurich in the Class of Eckart Heiligers and Hartmuth Höll.


Since 2011 he is professor for piano MA Pedagogy at the University of the Arts Berne, Switzerland.


Paweł Andrzej Mazurkiewicz is prizewinner of the prestigious Swiss music prize, “Prix Credit Suisse – Jeunes Solistes 2003”, which allowed him to establish in the Swiss musical life. He is also a prizewinner of: the 30th ‘Frederic Chopin’ National Polish Piano Competition 1997 - 1st prize, International Cho-Ko-Chai Music Competition of Tokio (1st prize, 2010), of the Szymanowski International Piano Competition, Łódź 2001, International Piano Competition ‘Konzerteum’ in Marcopoulo in Greece in 1996.

He got two awards in the category of chamber music: “Fryderyk 2005” for the CD with compositions of Grażyna Bacewicz, recorded with violinist Bartek Nizioł and 2006 he was prizewinner of the Competition “Whitaker Preis” Neuchatel.

In 1999 he was also awarded with scholarship of the Minister of Culture and Art in Warsaw.

So far he had performances on three continents. He gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia (Japan) and America (USA) and plays at the festivals like International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, Poland, the International Chopin Symposium in Los Angeles, European Piano Forum in Berlin, Polish Piano Festival Słupsk, „Talentinum” in the Czech Republic, Biennale Bern, Lucerne Festival, Davos Festival, Academia Sighisoara (Romania).


His performances were recorded and transmitted by the Polish Radio, as well as by Polish, Swiss, French and Japanese television. His first CD was recorded by the Swiss Radio DRS. The earlier mentioned CD with chamber music of Grażyna Bacewicz, was recorded for polish recording company DUX.
